XDEC issue speaker distortion in detail

What is the speaker distortion? As the speaker manufacturers of the sound industry,facing many customers to issue such a question,in fact,the speaker distortion simple point is the speaker output signal in the process of waveform and input waveform is not consistent.Loudspeaker distortion mainly has the following three indicators.

1.Intermodulation distortion (IMD)
Synthesizing the harmonic signals of 125Hz and lkHz output by the intermodulation distortion meter,input the amplitude of 4:1 into the measured amplifier,and measure the intermodulation distortion coefficient from the rated load.

2.Transient intermodulation distortion
The square wave signal of 3.15kHz and the sinusoidal wave signal of 15kHz are mixed according to the peak amplitude ratio of 4:1.After the amplifier,the percentage of the effective value of the product of all the new intermodulation distortion and the original sinusoidal amplitude is increased.If the amplifier uses deep loop negative feedback,transient intermodulation distortion is generally larger,reflecting the sound dull,stiff,no sense of presence;On the contrary,the sound is smooth,delicate and natural.

3.transient distortion (TIM)
Square wave signal input to the amplifier,its output waveform envelope to maintain the ability to express.If the conversion rate of the amplifier is not enough, the square wave signal will be deformed and produce transient distortion.It is mainly reflected in the signal of rapid musical mutation,such as percussion instruments, piano,xylophone,etc. If the transient distortion is large,the clear music will become unclear.
